Nothing can fully describe the excitement and feeling of awe when swimming with wild dolphins or seal pups.

 What better place to fulfil your dream than in the clear semi sheltered waters of French Pass and d’Urville Island. The French Pass area is renowned for up to four dolphin species, Bottlenose, Common, Dusky, and orca. All species migrate through the French Pass, some enjoying seasonal stays for periods of over six months. Bottlenose dolphins are more regular through the summer months. Common dolphins are in the wider area throughout the year but more focused locally through the warmer months while dusky take up residence through the cooler months.

New Zealand fur seals have a colony on Stephens Island to the north of d’Urville Island. After the breeding season the young pups are forced to reside outside this main colony. They take up residence in ‘haul out’ areas free from the larger seals. These are the areas we take people to swim. The advantage being, that the young seal pups are more playful than adult seals and the water is calmer. You can also see the reef below and enjoy a variety of fish species and marine life.

Our point of differnce is that our trips are small and personalised, we normally have clear water and no ocean swell.  We guarantee a swim with marine mammals however there will be times between dolphin migration that we only swim with Fur Seal pups. Trips will focus on your preference of dolphins or seals however on occasion, if time permits, you may get to swim with both.Price for a swim including wetsuit mask fins and snorkel is Adults $135, 12 years and under $95
