Getting to French Pass

French Pass is a small seaside village nestled on the western side of the Marlborough Sounds situated at the top of the South Island of New Zealand.

From farmland and rainforest to views over the Tasman, Sea French Pass offers a unique insight into 'real New Zealand'.

The spectacular and breathtaking drive gives way to a bird's eye view of Croisilles harbour, Outer Pelorus Sounds, Admiralty Bay, Tasman Bay and d'Urville Island. The drive to French Pass is claimed as one of the most scenic drives in New Zealand and by many the most scenic in the world.  It will bring you through cleared farmland, mineral belts, dramatic seascapes and rainforest before arriving at our door.

The drive will take about 1½ - 2 hour from Rai Valley, which is between Picton (where the Wellington - South Island Cook Strait ferry berths) and Nelson. Rai Valley is approximately 1¼ hour drive from Picton, or ¾ hour drive from Nelson.

'Great views, fantastic moon, thank you'.
